Yumbs (born Ayanda Oratile Yumba in 2002) is a visionary South African producer, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ who has become a leading architect of the "Private School Amapiano" sound. Originally from Kagiso, Soweto, he began his musical journey as a drummer in his local church at age ten and eventually attended the National School of Art. This formal training as a multi-instrumentalist (bass, guitar, and piano) sets him apart, allowing him to infuse the Amapiano genre with sophisticated jazz and soulful textures. By March 2026, Yumbs has moved beyond being a "prodigy" to becoming a global executive producer and curator, managing his own successful event series and collaborating with high-profile international artists.
