Ambwene Allen Yessayah, globally and professionally known as A.Y. or AY Masta, is a legendary Tanzanian rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur. Born on July 5, 1982, in Mtwara, Tanzania, he is widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the modern Bongo Flava and Tanzanian Hip-Hop movements. He is highly celebrated for being one of the first Tanzanian artists to successfully commercialize hip-hop, bridging the gap between raw street rap and mainstream, club-ready pop music.
